MWBE SDU WEBINAR: Food & Beverage Manufacturing and Catering
February 26 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
What is the Supply and Demand Utilization (SDU) initiative?
Empire State Development conducted a study to identify industries with low rates of MWBE utilization in State contracting opportunities and documented MWBE availability. These industries fall into the realms of Professional Services (Advertising and Marketing, Architecture, Engineering, and Environmental, Medical and Dental, Financial, & Legal – to name a few), Information Technology (Communications, IT Consulting, IT Maintenance, IT Software – to name a few), and Supplies/Commodities (Medical, Dental, and Lab Supplies, Office Supplies, Office Furniture, and Food and Beverage Manufacturing and Catering – to name a few).
Why focus on Food and Beverage Manufacturing and Catering for this webinar?
Our analysis indicates that while MWBE spend on general commodities has seen some growth over the years, we are still seeing very low spend on MWBEs in the food and beverage manufacturing and catering space. We also presently have a low number of NYS certified MWBEs in the Food and Beverage industry, so we’d like to work to increase those efforts as well.
